All of the above is about our human adjustment to loss and change that can apply to just about anyone of us.

I have tutored on a Counselling Skills course at Guildford College. I thoroughly enjoyed passing on my skills and knowledge, as well as learning from my students too!

I have experience of working in a men's prison offering substance misuse counselling, which included:
  • Working with the client to become abstinent and stay abstinent.
  • This work involved addressing criminal behaviour and attitudes as well as drug taking.
  • Working for the betterment of society, enabling the individual to see the impact they have on others and society.
  • Working on deep emotional issues like childhood and past traumas which, for many people can be root of actions and behaviour.

I have experience working in the field of bereavement and terminal illness. I have worked at the Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge and the Fountain Centre in the Royal Surrey County Hospital. This work has involved:
  • Working with the bereaved to explore their feelings of grief and to find to resolve a traumatic loss in their lives without forgetting their loved ones.
  • Working with those who are terminally ill to find peace, acceptance and reconciliation with their situation and with significant others in their lives.
  • Working with survivors of a life-threatening illness to gain perspective and find a new purpose or direction in their lives, as many of my clients have expressed that they have 'been given a second chance'.

I studied for three years at Guildford College, and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling. I ensure many hours of Continuing Professional Development to keep my skills up to date, and have been professionally accredited by the BACP, and am a member of the UKRCP.
