My Skills & Experience

I studied for three years at Guildford College, and graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling. I have since attended many hours of Continuing Professional Development every year, ensuring my skills are kept up to date , and have been professionally accredited by the BACP, and am a member of the UKRCP.
I have skills and experience of working with a variety of issues, including:
- Alcohol & Drug recovery
- Depression/Stress/Anxiety
- Relationship issues
- Major life changes, including work, behavioural and lifestyle changes
- Young People's issues, including finding your identity and family/peer issues
- Cross-Dressing, identity issues
- Working with counselling students to complete statutory counselling hours
- Telephone Counselling
- Loss, bereavement & Terminal Illness
- All of the above is about our human adjustment to loss and change that can apply to just about anyone of us.
I have also been contracted to provide aftercare counselling for clients who have had in-patient care in a private addictions treatment centre.
I have experience working in the field of bereavement and terminal illness. I have worked at the Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge and the Fountain Centre in the Royal Surrey County Hospital. This work has involved:
- Working with the bereaved to explore their feelings of grief and to find to resolve a traumatic loss in their lives without forgetting their loved ones.
- Working with those who are terminally ill to find peace, acceptance and reconciliation with their situation and with significant others in their lives.
- Working with survivors of a life-threatening illness to gain perspective and find a new purpose or direction in their lives, as many of my clients have expressed that they have 'been given a second chance'.
